Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the silent film The Flying Ace featuring a live score performed by DJ/Producer, Parlé.

Originally advertised as “The Greatest Airplane Mystery Thriller Ever Produced,” The Flying Ace is a testament to the enduring cultural significance of silent-era race films. The film will be presented with live accompaniment by internationally-acclaimed DJ Parlé, whose eclectic music style will span the century since the film’s release, bringing The Flying Ace into the here and now.

Racquel Gates

Racquel Gates is an Associate Professor of Film and Media Studies at Columbia University. She is the author of Double Negative: The Black Image and Popular Culture (Duke, 2018) and is currently writing her second book, Blackness and the Invention of Hollywood Style. In addition to her teaching and scholarly publications, Dr. Gates is also an Academy Film Scholar and a regular contributor to podcasts, television programs, and film projects.
